Pre-1925 Building (Condo Conversion)
Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA
While planning this project, the developers quickly realized that when renovating to convert this pre-1925 historic building, they had to find a cost and time efficient manner to deal with the lead and asbestos found in surveys. After obtaining quotes for abatement by total removal of these obsolete building materials, they called SES on a tip from one of the contractors bidding this abatement work.
Encasement was first used to abate the textured acoustical ceiling in the underground parking garage. The ceiling (an ACM) was coated with damaged LBP. The SE-110 + SE-120 encasement system for LBP was applied onto ceilings, window sills, doors, closets, exterior and interior trim and many other non-friction surfaces. Encasement was selectively used to abate LBP and non-exposed ACM that was found after the interior walls were removed to create 2 & 3 bedroom units. The use of this abatement method saved time and money. Theses were important as funds for this project included time and monetary goals of having the condos become affordable housing.
