Abatement by Encasement: Safeguarding People while Saving MoneyTM

Ctr. Congregational Church – Manchester, CT

Case History

Center Congregational Church

Manchester, CT

Located near a main, busy intersection and on the same street as the local lead abatement control office, there was a need to abate the damaged paint in a way that minimized any dust release. The work also needed to be done while the Child Care and Church Elementary School were kept operating.

Surface preparation included carefully removing the damaged paint that was very loose, then stabilizing the remaining painted surfaces with SE-110 Penetrating-Stabilizer (primer). SE-151 sealant was used to weatherize around windows, doors and trim and for some minor repairs. SE-120 Protective-Skin topcoat was custom tinted and applied over all of the aging painted surfaces. The client and authorities were both very pleased with the results from using encasement.
