100 Year Old Presbyterian Church
Downtown Minneapolis, MN
As part of a renovation, the wood window trim was coated with multiple layers of Lead-Based Paint (LBP) in badly deteriorating condition, and needed to be repainted. Removal of the old, damaged paint was considered but concern about damaging the wood and the goal of historical preservation of this beautiful church lead to the decision to encase the window trim.
Really loose, flaking paint was first removed, then the wood surface was stabilized with SE-110 Penetrating-Stabilizer (primer). After the primer was dry, yielding a Lead-SAFE surface in a dust free manner, the damaged areas where wood was missing were repaired with SE-151 Architectural Sealant. Finally, tinted SE-120 Protective-Skin topcoat was applied, resulting in attractively restored window trim
